What to put on an invoice
Your business details
Your business name, and an email or phone number so the client can reach you. Add an address if your clients or your tax office expect one.
The client
Who you are billing: their name, and an email or address so the invoice reaches the right person.
A unique invoice number
Number invoices in order and never reuse one. It is how you and your client refer to it later.
Issue date and due date
When you sent it and when payment is due. Thirty days is common; due on receipt is fine for small jobs.
Each item, with quantity and price
Describe the work or goods, how many (hours, square feet, visits) and the price for each. The line amount is quantity times price.
Taxes, discount and total
Show each tax with its rate, any discount, and the total due. Taxes apply after the discount.
How to pay
Bank details, a payment link or the methods you accept, in the notes.
Anything else agreed
Late fees, warranty or a thank you. Keep it short.

Is this invoice generator really free?
Yes. There is no sign up and no watermark. Your draft stays in your browser and the PDF is made when you download it; nothing is saved on our servers.
How are the totals worked out?
Each line is quantity times price, rounded to the cent. Then the subtotal, then the discount, then each tax on the discounted subtotal, then the total. Rounding is half away from zero, the same as in the Sumocat app.
Can I add my logo?
Not in this free tool. In the Sumocat app you can add your logo and it prints on every PDF you share.
Can I save my clients and items?
This page keeps one draft in your browser. The Sumocat app keeps all your clients, saved items and invoices, numbers them for you, and syncs them for free.
